Bank of India, New York Branch offers a wide range of remittance facilities for transfer of funds in Indian Rupees, US Dollars and other currencies like Pound Sterling, Deutsche Mark and Japanese Yen, through Demand Draft, Mail Transfer and Telegraphic Transfer.

We have a large network of over 2476 branches in India and 19 branches/offices worldwide including at all important financial centers such as London, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Paris. The Draft / Mail Transfer / Telegraphic (Wire) Transfer can be sent in Indian Rupees to all branches of Bank of India, in India.

1. If you call in PERSON-
  1. Fill up the application available in the Bank.
  2. Deposit cash or Money Orders in US Dollars across the counter. Cash and/or Money Orders will be accepted up to USD 1500 only, at one time.
  3. You may also deposit a certified check, cashier's check or official check (irrespective of the amount). They should be drawn payable to BANK OF INDIA.
  4. Note that the names of the remitter, signatory of the request for remittance application and the name of the applicant for certified checks should be the same.
  5. If the remittance is USD3000 or more (equivalent other currencies) you are required to fill out a form containing additional information. The same can be obtained from the Branch.
  6. Please give your social security number invariably.
  7. The draft may be collected in person.
2. If you send by MAIL-
(a) You may fill up the application of the Bank if available with you or CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD it and fill up.

OR

You can make out an application giving the following details:

    1. Your name, address, telephone number and Social Security Number,
    2. Name of the beneficiary and his address,
    3. Amount and currency of the remittance (i.e. whether the remittance should be in Indian Rupees, US Dollars, etc.);
    4. Name of the Branch to whom funds are to be remitted
    b) Enclose Official Check, Cashier's Check or Certified Check payable to Bank of India. You may also enclose your personal check but the remittance of funds will be made only after expiry of applicable hold period for the check (i.e. after realization of proceeds under the check) as per the rules currently in force. These periods range from one to ten working days depending upon the location of the Bank in United States on which it is drawn.
3. If you send through a BANK
a) You may instruct your Bank to transfer funds to the account of Bank of India, New York Branch with Chase Manhattan Bank, giving them the following information:

b) You may send a fax giving full details of the remittance made by you as a precaution as sometimes information received from other banks may not be complete. Our fax number is 212-980-0052.
